Dragon Age: Origins delayed locally
Logistical bottlenecks appear to have caused Bioware’s highly anticipated RPG Dragon Age to be delayed locally by three days.
Just two days ago the game was set to be released on Friday November 6. Many local gamers were eagerly anticipating getting their hands on the game before the weekend, but will now have to wait until Monday November 9.
EA’s Dragon Age product manager Ralph Spinks said that EA could not comment on the details of the delay, although other sources have provided clues as to why gamers will have to wait an extra few days.
Inside sources at BTGames and Take 2 confirmed that the game was held back due to the Collector’s Edition being delayed. Apparently the Collector’s Edition has been delayed due to a logistical shortfall. Rumors suggest that EA did not want people who pre-ordered the regular version to have access to the game before those who ordered the Collectors Edition, although we cannot confirm this.
While EA has not formally acknowledged the delay, almost all major retailers have changed the release date for the game from November 6 to November 9.
These retailers include Take2.co.za, BTGames and Kalahari.net, with more retailers updating their release date by the hour.
The delay is only applicable to the PC and Xbox 360 version of the game, and it looks as though PS3 owners will still have to wait until November 20.
An interesting side note to the delay is that while gamers who buy locally have been affected, PC users who buy Dragon Age through STEAM’s download service will have access to it on Saturday November 7.
