C&C4 to conclude Tiberium series in 2010

Yesterday EA formally announced that Command&Conquer 4 is currently being developed. The official announcement which was preceded by an announcement on Twitter did not give very many details regarding the upcoming RTS.

EA has however released a few interesting titbits for fans of the series.

Firstly, and rather surprisingly, it would appear that C&C4 is likely to be the final installment of the series. EA is billing it as the "epic conclusion to the beloved Tiberium universe." Apparently the fourth installment of the franchise will take place on an earth that is overrun by Tiberium to the point of being virtually uninhabitable.

In an unexpected twist, the final game will see Nod and GDI sharing a common goal; to save humanity. Apparently the game will finally reveal "Kane's motivations behind his decade-long plan."

While there is still little known about the game, EA has discussed a number of gameplay elements that will be present in C&C4. EA has announced that the game will feature "new class-based gameplay, mobile bases and persistent player progression throughout all game modes."
In addition to the two single player campaigns which players will be able to play co-operatively, C&C4 will also feature a brand new 5v5 objective-based multiplayer mode.

To date the Command&Conquer franchise has sold almost 30million games over a span of 15 years.

C&C4 will conclude the Tiberium series in 2010 and is currently set to be released exclusively on PC.
