Obsidian’s Fallout scheduled to drop in SA’s winter

Update

As it turns out, New Vegas will be released in our spring, so we can expect it around September. Our bad. Although, the confusion raised here does support my initial point that publishers should abolish this whole seasonal timeframe release nonsense. Thanks Steve ;)

We’re getting really tired of these season based launch timeframe announcements. I mean, are these people not aware that earth has a second hemisphere, and that seasons are completely different down here.  Hey publishers, the Gregorian calendar is awesome, use it.

With that out of that way, Bethesda Softworks has announced that Fallout: New Vegas will be released in Spring 2010. Unless the publisher has moved its head offices from Maryland USA, to Winhoek Nambia (or anywhere else in the Southern Hemisphere for that matter), then this means that we should expect the game in our Winter months; June, July, August.

Fallout: New Vegas is not just another Fallout game, and is being developed by Obsidian Entertainment, a studio which formed shortly after Black Isle Studios – Fallout developer – was decommissioned. Headed by Black Isle founder Feargus Urquhart, along with other Fallout creators Darren Monahan, Chris Avelone and Chris Jones, Obsidian is expected to deliver the “true spiritual successor” to the Fallout franchise.

“Experience all the sights and sounds of fabulous New Vegas, brought to you by Vault-Tec, America's First Choice in Post Nuclear Simulation. Explore the treacherous wastes of the Great Southwest from the safety and comfort of your very own vault: Meet new people, confront terrifying creatures, and arm yourself with the latest high-tech weaponry as you make a name for yourself on a thrilling new journey across the Mojave wasteland. A word of warning, however - while Vault-Tec engineers have prepared for every contingency,* in Vegas, fortunes can change in an instant. Enjoy your stay,” reads the promotional blurb.

All future Fallout games will be released in Fall so they can continue using the Out Fall 20XX advertising scheme.
