Blade and Soul is coming! Anyone wanna give it a try

AusGamers recently caught up with Blizzard’s J. Allen Brack, where they discussed World of Warcraft’s 5th birthday as well as the Warcraft franchise which now spans 15 years.

From its humble beginnings, where Blizzard struggled to source the server hardware required to run the game, to its current status as possibly the most profitable video game ever made WoW certainly has come a long way.

Indeed, the game is so big that it is easy to forget about the franchise forbearers which are considered by most to be RTS classics.

When AusGamers suggested that it is about time that RTS fans got a renewed taste of the Warcraft universe, Brack responded by saying, "Warcraft 4 is certainly something that gets talked about on a pretty regular basis". He goes on to explain that the same team that worked on Warcraft 3 is currently working on StarCraft II. "While I think we're all excited about a Warcraft 4, in concept, they're going to finish up StarCraft 2, and then they're going to work on the two StarCraft expansions that we've announced, so they're booked for the next few years."

Brack points out that it would make sense for the same team that worked on Warcraft 3 to work on its sequel, and at least for as long as that team is involved with Star Craft II, it is unlikely that Blizzard will be seriously thinking about WarCraft 4.

However, it seems almost certain that once Blizzard has finished with StarCraft II, it will move its RTS focus onto Warcraft 4.
