LAN Games host eXtreme Gaming event this weekend
LANGames in association with FRAG and Arena 77 will be hosting their first monthly eXtreme Gaming event at the four star Kopanong hotel and conference venue on 13 & 14 March 2010.
LANGames is dedicated towards growing e-Sports in South Africa, and is aiming to change the face of local competitive gaming going forward, and provide a platform for the promotion and improvement of LAN events in SA.
This weekend’s event will mark the first of many organised by LAN Games, and promises the best in local LAN infrastructure set against the backdrop of a four star hotel.
The venue has a full restaurant, buffet, bar, accommodation with swimming pool and a range of other attractions, including a live cheetah. Gamers are encouraged to bring their friends and family along for the weekend. The hotel is situated 10 minutes from Emperor’s Palace in Gauteng, and special prices for accommodation and food have been arranged for participants of the event.
Infrastructure
FRAG will be providing the infrastructure for the event, with a Gigabit network, dedicated power cables and 24 port smart allowance Gigabit switches for no packet loss data transfer at premium speeds.
An experienced admin support crew will be on hand throughout the weekend.
There will also be shared access to a 4MB ADSL line, allowing gamers to download required updates and authenticate various games etc.
Competitions
Arena 77 will be organising various competitions for the event, and players can expect free giveaways throughout the weekend.
Price
The event will be reasonably priced, with tickets selling for just R120 for the weekend. Discounted rates on chalets and rooms can be organised, and a full buffet breakfast will be available for R65. A full list of extras can be found at the LanGames website.
Registrations
Walk in registrations will be allowed, although booking is essential to guarantee yourself a place. Seats can be booked at the LanGames website.

Take the R21 (South) Highway towards O R Tambo International Airport, take the Benoni off-ramp, turn left at the top of the off-ramp, follow the road to the traffic light, at the Engen garage turn left onto the M32, go through three sets of traffic lights and a stop street, at the stop street keep straight, ± 400 meters after the stop street turn right into Glen Gory Road, Kopanong Hotel is 400 meters down Glen Gory Road on your left.
