Latest PS3 firmware update is now live, bringing Facebook integration to the console

The much hyped Playstation 3 firmware update version 3.10, which will bring integration with social networking platform Facebook to the console, is now officially available.

By linking a Playstation Network account to a Facebook account users now have the option for their PS3s to automatically update their Facebook status feed with game updates including trophies earned and Playstation Store activity.

The update will also allow game developers and publishers to include specific criteria within titles to be posted to the users Facebook profile while gaming.

According to the official Sony PS blog “This is just the beginning of our integration with Facebook and we are looking forward to adding new features enhancing the experience in future updates.”

Additional updates include a revamped photo section, a reorginasation of the friends list and a number of bug fixes found in firmware update 3.00.

Hey, any chance of some helpful soul downloading this update and chucking it onto a local FTP server?

Yes that may be a .co.za but I think it's hosted internationally.

I was hoping to download it using my local bandwidth.

3.1 firmware update just caused havoc on my PS 3. All games just seems to freeze. Which is so damn irritating dont they get it tested before releasing it. What the hell do we do now with a R 5000 device that doesnt work properly. I wish i could sue them or something

Glad to see i am not the only one having a ps3 that does not agree with the latest update. i almost dropped a bag of cash to get it fixed thinking it was the lazer or something. i hope they send out a patch soon to fix it i need to play COD2 again
