Microsoft announces 250GB Xbox 360 package

Update

John Press of Microsoft SA has confirmed to Xboxgaming.co.za that the Modern Warfare 2 special edition Xbox 360 will not be coming to SA.

Microsoft today confirmed the existence of its ‘Super Elite’ package with the announcement of a limited edition Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Elite bundle.

Last week reports surfaced internationally that local retailer BT Games was advertising for R4699 which featured two wireless controls and a 250GB hard drive. Initially Microsoft debunked the claims, adding that it had not yet confirmed a model with these specifications but has since acknowledged that it exists with the release of this new package.

The limited edition Xbox 360 Elite Modern Warfare 2 bundle will contain:

•    Limited edition Xbox 360 Elite 250GB console (with Modern Warfare 2 outer design)

•    Two wireless controllers

•    A copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

•    Composite A/V cables

It is currently available on pre order at Amazon.com for $399 (R2992) and will be released on November 10th in conjunction with the game.

Microsoft has also confirmed a Forza: 3 Super Elite package for release.

Awesome. My 360 RRoD'd a few months ago and I'm looking to replace it. If this thing comes out under R3500, I am definitely buying it.

Super Elite...what a naff name....I hope they don't put that on the actual console haha.

I'm guessing that a standard super elite 360 will be made available though? ie 250GB HD and 2x controllers

MS never called it Super Elite that's just the press name.

Great bundle though...

I finaly got my super elite yesterday which is said not to be able to get the RRoD. but after just 1 day my console has overheated and now has RRoD. It is false that the new motherboards in these super elites dont get RRoD. There is no point buying one if you already have a 360.

No console (even the PS3) is entirely immune to serious overheating issues. The real culprit is the lead-free solder manufacturers are forced to use in compliance with industry restrictions, alongside inadequate console cooling. Whoever told you the Super Elite model had no issue with RRoD failure was very much misinformed.
