SA Xbox Live activity charts. Week starting Jan 25

1.    Modern Warfare 2
2.    Mass Effect 2
3.    Forza Motorsport 3
4.    Assassin's Creed 2
5.    Mass Effect
6.    Borderlands
7.    Gears of War 2
8.    Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10
9.    Trials HD
10.    Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Demo

Mass Effect 2 makes an impressive debut at second place, but is unable to assail the mighty Modern Warfare 2 which has been the most played Xbox 360 game in SA – and the world - since its release in November last year.

Forza 3 is bumped down a spot to make room for the sci-fi RPG, and Army of Two: The 40th Day falls off the map after just two weeks in the top ten. Borderlands hangs in tight, dropping from 3rd to 6th place making room not only for Mass Effect 2, but also Mass Effect. We can only guess that the release of Mass Effect 2 has gamers desperately trying to finish the first game so that they can continue the saga.

Assassin’s Creed 2 climbs steadily from 8th place to 4th, and Gears of War 2 slips from 5th to 7th.

Darksiders demonstrates unimpressive staying power, and falls out of the top ten along with Dragon Age: Origins.

Our favourite Xbox Live Arcade game, Trials HD makes a re-entry, and the Battlefield: Company 2 demo makes its way into the charts at tenth place.

It should be interesting to see if Mass Effect 2 can claim the top spot from Modern Warfare 2 over the next few weeks, although the military themed FPS has multiplayer longevity on its side.
