Microsoft feeling good about 2010
During its recently held X10 Showcase Microsoft Xbox Group product manager Steve Beinner referred to 2010 as "the biggest year for Xbox 360 ever", despite the console’s declining sales figures and perceived underdog position to Sony’s PS3.
According to Beinner the company’s Xbox LIVE service will be a big differentiator for the Xbox 360 in the coming year, especially with regard to DLC for upcoming exclusive titles such as Fable III and Alan Wake.
"Xbox Live is one of our big differentiators, so the idea of having exclusive DLC, keeping our players engaged -- I love it,"
"When we talk about exclusivity, Live is a differentiator for us. And if we can bring exclusive content to our consumers, we will do it. So working closely with our third-party partners to secure that exclusive content is priority one." reports Gamasutra.
Beinner failed however to acknowledge that while PS3 owners can gain access to the Playstation Network free of charges Xbox 360 owners have to pay for the privilege of online gaming. In addition to this South African Xbox 360 users are yet to receive Xbox Live support while local PS3 owners are recognised by Sony.
Although Beinner did not give any solid information regarding Project Natal, the console’s upcoming motion control interface, he did comment that "we want to be the box that's the home of the best entertainment. So when I think of audiences, we want to be providing the best gaming and entertainment experiences.
That's what Xbox is all about. So we're going to be continuing to develop new technology and bringing new experiences to market that will position us that way in the market."
It was also added that Microsoft is "committed to all markets" with regards to releases, DLC content and online support. Whether or not this means South African users can expect to be added to the hallowed listings of the Xbox LIVE community remains unclear.

Subscribe to comments feedso much less frustrating than live and i don't have to pay for it even online gaming is lag free so far for me i mean really now can MS justify having to pay for online experiance that is not even supported in SA i'm sorry MS = FAIL
i moved from MS to Sony cause it works right out the box
That Xbox LIVE is not officially supported in SA is a legitimate complaint, but the "lag free" thing is bullshit. Join any internationally-hosted game, and you'll get lag. That's physics.
